Ski Appeal 2011

Here's a taster of my contribution to One magazine for winter 2011... ski wear. D&G's AW10 collection is like fairytale ski wear, don't you think? Heavy knits, silks and chiffons, bare thighs and shaggy boots... the collection is fun, fearless and flirty.
What do you think? Impossibly impractical or cosy chic?

A slightly more justifiable purchase would be the Antia puffa jacket by Duvetica, stocked at Milletre Boutique in Kensington. Get yours here. Great for a ski trip, but just as good for walking the dog in style. (A little bird tells me that Sarah Harris, Fashion Features Writer at Vogue UK bought one recently).

Mrs Prada - A Woman's Woman

When I sat down to watch the AW10 shows last February I was delighted to find that Prada had embraced the natural female form, curves and all. As regular readers of The Daydreamer will know, I have T&A, so you can imagine how pleased I was to see that Mrs Prada had sent fashion's "curvy" girls (Miranda Kerr, Lara Stone, Catherine McNeil, Doutzen Kroes) down the runway in a flirty array of dresses that encouraged a well endowed rack. The Laras and the Catherines among us will have no trouble filling out the Fifties inspired dresses, while more modest chests have been given a helping hand with ruffles galore around the bust.
What makes this collection stand out from the other designers who tapped into AW10's womanly trend? Mrs Prada has a sense of humour. With these sexy, impossible-not-to-stare-at bosoms, she teamed woolly socks, enormous buns, and spectacles - not quite the standard sexy of the 21st century, but hot nonetheless.
So, as a self-conscious curvy girl, I squealed with delight when I discovered Prada's Fall 2010 collection dedicated to women as women, not girls. (Everyone loves a Prada trend, no? Even the skinny girls will want to be hourglass this season). So, imagine my excitement to find a near-identical Prada dress on the great British high street!
Ah, adoro!

Monochrome Magic at Prabal Gurung

The Prabal Gurung AW10 collection is one of my favourites.
So simple in palette, so elegant in cut, so contemporary in style. The monochrome looks are beyond fabulous and are a touch of pure class. In my daydreams, I see women with very different styles wearing Gurung's designs, from pretty Leighton Meester to the fabulous Jane Fonda to a kooky Chloe Sevigny. It takes a very talented designer to appeal to a variety of women - for Gurung to consider his designs so acutely that they speak to all ages of women from all walks of life is a sure sign of an instant "go-to" line.
There is definitely something for everyone in Prabal Gurung's latest collection; there are plenty of looks that I would wear, and I'm pretty confident that you feel the same way. And, of course, there's Olivia Palermo, style queen of NYC. Oh, and Michelle Obama, First Lady of the USA. And Demi Moore. And Kristen Stewart. And Rachel Weisz. Need I go on?
