Jasper Garvida
Jasper Garvida, is a label to covet, and if you don't already know about it, you do now!
Jasper Garvida graduated from the prestigious Central St. Martins in 2004 and his debut collection was bought out by Nicola Formachetti (editor of Dazed and Confused) which was then sold in Jingumae, Tokyo. Garvida's first appointment was designing for couture label Michiko Koshino and in 2008 he won Sky One's Project Catwalk. Later that same year, in August, Garvida established his own label, Jasper Garvida, and with the new label came new fans, including Sophie Dahl and Liz Hurley. His work has subsequently been featured in major publications including Vogue, Elle, i-D, Dazed and Confused, V and The Daily Telegraph, amongst many others.
Garvida's autumn/winter 2011 collection continues the Oriental vibe seen on this season's catwalk (particularly at Louis Vuitton) and, unsurprisingly, is beautifully designed and expertly cut. The craftsmanship that goes into Garvida's garments is second to none, and the result is one of pure expert workmanship and attention to detail. The collection is bursting with understated opulence - it's elaborate but without being showy. In other words, exactly right for now, exactly right for the future.
