Cannes We Play?

Isn’t the Cannes Film Festival supposed to be about film?
It seems to me to be a bit of an excuse for celebrities to dress up and swan around in the sun, waving tiny hands at their fans. All the while their photographs are being taken purely to be plastered on all sorts of publications all across the globe for us mere mortals to “ooh” and “ah” over, while we feel less and less good about ourselves.
If this rings any bells, then listen carefully! Celebrities are preened to within an inch of their lives by professional hair stylists, make up artists (for the whole body), dieticians and personal trainers. They are loaned beautifully crafted clothes by the world’s top designers and the most exquisite gems by both new and old school jewellers. The celebs don’t even have the stress of dealing with the organisation of this: it’s all dealt with by a handful of PAs and stylists who put the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together in order to create the perfect picture!
DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT YOURSELF!
You feed yourself healthy food, you exercise your own body and do your own hair and your own make up. You wear clothes you can afford and make the best of what you’ve got. And, let me tell you, honey, you scrub up pretty well. I know it’s hard to imagine, but if there was any room for improvement using the aforementioned celebrity resources, just think how bloody fantastic you’d look.
Anyway, back to prancing celebs at Cannes. Although they seem to do very little other than have people fawn all over them and see how beautiful they are, it is kind of fun to watch. I love to pick out my favourite looks and hair styles and make up. Oh, that dress is too dark for the glaring sun! Her hair looks like a bird’s nest! Arg, black kohl and false lashes do not make for a subtle day look! Ooh, I am loving her take on the difficult trend for pastels! Or, as planned by the pros, we simply sigh at how gorgeous the beautiful people do actually look.
I picked out two Latina lovelies, Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez, both of whom are working very different looks while at Cannes, but both look just as glamorous as the other. If I had to choose, it would probably be Eva’s chic, simple and elegant look. However, I can’t help but feel drawn to J-Lo’s fiiieerce style.
Who gets your vote?
