Lviv Fashion Week: Syuzanna Slastion
I was looking through the catwalk shots of Lviv Fashion Week (Spring/Summer 2011) over the weekend and came across Syuzanna Slastion, an extremely talented designer. Syuzanna Slastion used a black and nude colour palette in luxurious fabrics (leather is a popular choice) with industrial twists such as studs and metal bib necklaces juxtaposed by silver hair garlands and cute black bows. An exciting mix of Park Avenue Princess meets Rock Chick, Slastion's SS11 collection has just the right amount of Kesha punk to toughen up the grown-up, polished femininity that Olivia Palermo would be proud of.
Lviv Fashion Week is one of the leading international designer showcases in Eastern Europe, showing twice a year and presenting pret-a-porter and pret-a-porter de luxe collections. The project was established in March 2008 and has seen collections from designers based in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Croatia and France, to name a few. Among the visitors and guests of Lviv Fashion Week are designers and buyers, representatives of business and media, and fashion magazine editors - over 3500 people visit Lviv Fashion Week daily.
Offering the latest collections from designers, in runway shows and exhibition showrooms, the aim of Lviv Fashion Week is to support new designers (much like the British Fashion Council's NEWGEN) as well as introducing higher profile European designers into the Ukranian market.
If Syuzanna Slastion's SS11 collection is anything to go by, then Lviv Fashion Week is most certainly fulfilling its objective, and I for one am happy to support the project in their quest to provide a platform for their new designers - especially when it comes to Syuzanna Slastion.
