Last Sunday, Mum and I went to The Apex in Dundee for afternoon tea in aid of Tayside Cancer Support.
The Apex had organised an afternoon of pampering before treating guests to tea, sandwiches, cakes and scones - all in a bid to raise funds and awareness for Tayside Cancer Support, a voluntary organisation that provides a "buddying" support system to sufferers of cancer among other types of support.
On arrival at The Apex, we were given a glass of bubbly to enjoy before being taken in small groups round the various pampering stations. First up, was hairstyling by McIntyres - the team were friendly, excited and enthusiastic about trying new things as well as letting us have a say in what we would like. Mum and I chose blow dries - safe and sensible when dealing with new hairdressers, but also a classic look that is perfect for Sunday afternoon.

Mum then went on to have an Indian Head Massage while I was given a hand and arm exfoliation and massage. The Elemis products were divine and lots of little samples were available for the guests to take home.

The third pamper station was a make up tutorial by Dior (at Debenhams) and the Dior assistant was really well informed on products, trends but still managed to take into account each individual's own personal style, taste and look. The stand out product was the Diorskin Rosy Glow blusher, which reacts with the moisture in your face to produce a natural pink glow that suits your skin tone.

After all our pampering, the group was taken through to a small bar area where the founder of Aitkens gave a wine tasting session (The Cloud Factory, a Sauvignon Blanc, was my favourite) and advice about different wines, which food to eat with them, and lots of other information that you can learn at his monthly wine tasting evenings in his Dundee shop.
The last stop was a jewellery workshop with Lorraine Law, where we were each given some elastic and beads. Making the bracelets was a bit fiddly (especially having had hand massages) but Lorraine assisted us and showed us how to make sure the bracelet was secure. Mum managed to make herself two bracelets!

By 3 pm, we were all pampered and wined out, so we went to finally have some afternoon tea. The charity raffle winners were announced and then we got stuck into cup after cup of tea, mini quiche, mini steak pies, tiny smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, delicious scones with clotted cream and tiny, tasty cakes and macaroons.
It was a perfect Sunday afternoon.
