When I first saw the Burberry Prorsum SS12 collection, my immediate reaction was, how depressing. To think that summer would require the need for bobble hats and and parkas! It simply made me feel fed up, despite the rich palette of aubergine and citron. I couldn't help but think that we ought to be more positive about the British summer.
But, of course, Christopher Bailey was simply being realistic. For the past two days, the rain has poured and poured, not only causing major flooding across the UK, but also some very serious hair frizzage. Today, after almost 48 solid hours of misty drizzle interrupted only by the odd heavy rain shower, I realised that Burberry's SS12 collection was probably one of the best of the season. This dismal weather is perfect for showcasing the collection, which, along with parkas, was made up of pretty dresses in earthy tones, leather skirts, raffia bobble hats and African influences, such as bright beading and leopard wedges - just the thing for elevating one safely upwards and away from puddles.
Christopher Bailey, how could I ever have doubted you.

For those who don't have the budget for Burberry Prorsum (myself included), simply take inspiration from the spring/summer collection. Trim your old parka or trench with tribal-esque beading and throw on a straw cap (sew an old bobble on the top, if you like). Team with a pretty, below-the-knee tea dress and glossy but natural hair for a Burberry-esque summer look. To prevent hair frizz, tuck your hair up inside the cap until you arrive stylishly at your destination!
