Beauty Busters: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
The kind ladies at Clarins sent me a sample of their staple product, Beauty Flash Balm. I've been hoping to try this one out for a long time because I've heard such good reports and read a lot of positive reviews on the product.
Usually I apply my regular moisturiser every morning and night, but lately I've been feeling like I need a little extra boost in the morning. Whether it's a sign of the ageing process or a lack of sun this summer, I am not sure - all I know is my skin has been feeling as though it needs a little help in the radiance department.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm comes in the signature Clarins packaging (white tubes/boxes with red text) so as always looks very simple, very fresh, very clean. I think Clarins packaging is a reflection of their products and Beauty Flash Balm is no different. Aside from the Clarins cream blush I use every day, Flash Balm is by far the best Clarins product I've used.
The balm itself is basically a moisturiser but with a thick consistency, however, it isn't a cream. It has the same rich texture as some lip balms (hence the name balm) so it glides over the skin and feels incredibly fresh (but not zingy) and made my skin feel alive. The first time I used it, I noticed a visible change in the appearance of my skin; it immediately looked radiant and had a youthful glow. If I had a bit of colour from the sun, and a lot more sleep, I honestly think I'd be happy to use Beauty Flash Balm alone without foundation. That said, I would still require some concealer!
After once application my skin felt and looked much better. A couple of weeks using the Beauty Flash Balm has improved the general condition of my skin - less dry, more supple - and perhaps this is because the balm has a slightly oily base. I don't know if this means the balm isn't as good for oily skin, however, this product has been a best seller for over 20 years so it's obviously doing something right!
My skin definitely feels and looks better as a result of regular use of the Beauty Flash Balm, but I also think this is a great emergency pick-me-up product for days when your skin needs a little radiance boost. The only downside is that I don't think this is a great night-time product, so either a night cream or another moisturiser would be required to use before bed. That said, different moisturisers have different purposes and once you pass your mid twenties, it really is time to start selecting products based on their primary purpose to keep your skin looking at it's very best. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is a great way to start the day because it perks up the skin and the silky texture acts as a great primer/base for make-up.
Overall, I give Clarins Beauty Flash Balm a 9/10.
