Get Your Groove On

Don't you love this purple jumpsuit by Warehouse? It's from the Spring/Summer 11 collection, and my, isn't it delectable? Quite mouth-watering really, like a grape icepole, or a frozen blueberry yoghurt. And oh-so-Seventies.
The Seventies (my most favourite decade - I'm a sucker for high waists and flares) is a major trend for the new season, and by jove, if you don't have something tan, floral or perhaps a rogue floppy hat, you'd better hop to a shopping spree. Worry not, Daydreamers, for the high street will be awash with Seventies inspired pieces following the hippy-go-lucky designer collections. (Another option would be to raid any decent thrift store or vintage emporium, where you might be lucky enough to find some vintage YSL: the 70s, personified).
Marc Jacobs is the go-to designer for this trend - he featured 70s looks a go-go, with high waist flares, billowing chiffon maxi dresses, neck scarves, oversize sunglasses, large brimmed sunhats, halter-necks and of course, the all important disco sequins (think Bianca Jagger) in his ode to Yves.
For a low-key take on the trend, look to Gucci, where Frida Giannini did tassels and fringing in perfect shades of tan, nude and mocha. Don't think Farrah Fawcett quite so much; think Clémence Poésy, but less French. What I mean is, imagine a girl with long blonde hair, parted in the middle like Poésy, but with a deep Californian tan and a battered old satchel slung over a bare shoulder as she climbs out of her VW campervan wearing a delightful purple jumpsuit. So, basically, work the look, 2011 style.
